Sunday afternoon. Sitting quietly in the back yard, clouds whisper by and the threat of rain is still looming. I hope for it. I’ve spent the day going back and forth between researching for the book, reading a current work of fiction and trying to come up with something to write on our blog. I have really neglected you recently. We’ve been camping in the backcountry and enjoying time with Family and friends before we’re off again. I guess I should let you know that we will be leaving again in January to go work on an organic Farm. We’re very excited about it. I’ve always wanted to be a Farmer. This is my chance. It’s a chance to be part of an ever-growing organization that is teaching people of all walks of life how to grow their own food and what it means to participate in a community and it’s greater good. I think we’re finally getting why it’s important to support your local farms and co-op’s. Buying and eating local, fresh and seasonal food is where it’s at!
I will leave you with one of my favorite excerpts from the journal of Chris McCandless.

“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.”
